Chief Auditor - Internal Audit

This unique role is a rare opportunity to be a key agent in the delivery of strategic results through a contemporary internal audit function. Responsibilities of this role will include:

• Leading an effective and contemporary internal audit function including driving a culture of continuous improvement in audit methodology, internal control and risk management
• Providing authoritative, independent, confidential advice to the Director-General and senior management on the effectiveness and efficiency of departmental systems and operations
• Planning, delivering, and managing an objective, best practice audit assurance and consultancy service that meets the needs and expectations of the Director–General and the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
• In collaboration with senior management, negotiating successful internal audit outcomes leading to the implementation of solutions and report to the Audit and Risk Committee on the outcomes of major reviews and performance against the internal audit plan

The successful candidate will have:

• CPA, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, MIPA, FIPA certification or international equivalent
• Extensive experience leading an effective internal audit function
• Strong stakeholder management experience and business partner approach
• Demonstrable experience of building and sustaining relationships to enable collaborative delivery of customer focused outcomes
