Overview:
This position will focus on coordinating and maintaining the digital 3D Model, provide 3D modelling support to inform the assessment of development applications, Planning Proposals and Masterplans. The role Will also include preparing/coordinating DCP illustrations, maps, and 3D visualisations, as well as GIS analyses to support strategic projects. The ideal candidate will have creative technically savvy skills and a passion for creating clear and concise visualisations.
Accountabilities
- Provide innovative and effective 3D digital modelling and visualisation expertise to inform urban design policies and plans.
- Test planning controls and proposals within the digital model and present findings to stakeholders.
- Prepare and/or coordinate GIS analyses to support strategic projects.
- Aid visual communication and presentations using tools such as Terra Explorer, Autodesk 3D Max, Giraffe, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Google SketchUp (or other relevant software).
- Research and analyse 3D model data and trends to ensure cutting-edge deliverables.
- Liaise with developers and architects to ensure digital 3D models of proposed developments are submitted as part of the Development Application process.
- Develop technical manuals, procedures, user training, and demonstrations to support various stakeholders across Council.
- Provide advice on urban design issues related to development applications, planning proposals and precinct plans.
- Represent the business interests in dealings with State and Federal Government agencies, particularly in 3D modelling and visualisation contexts.
- Self-assess work to ensure output is timely, accurate, and of a high standard.
- Prepare and coordinate procurement, project briefs, program timelines, and contract documentation for external consultants.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, external consultants, and community members to achieve shared outcomes.
Essential Experience/ Qualifications
- Tertiary Qualifications in Architecture, Urban Design, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in 3D digital model, 3D digital visualisation and urban design;
- Demonstrated experience in preparing urban design referrals, master plans, guidelines, manuals, etc.
- Ability to develop sophisticated design solutions for urban design projects; Proven organisational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload and to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, meeting completing deadlines and delivering high-quality outcomes;
- Adept project management skills including procurement, project briefs, program, budget and managing consultants; Demonstrated initiative, judgement and problem-solving skills;
Desirable Qualifications and or Experience
- Experience in Local or State Governments
- Experience or qualifications in project management
- Understanding of, or experience with heritage conservation
- Understanding of or experience with Land and Environment Court procedures
- Working knowledge of current trends and opportunities for urban design and sustainable design
- Experience or interest in active transport and innovative street design
