About the role
As an Active Transport Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and delivery of projects that promote and improve walking, cycling, and other sustainable transportation networks within the local area.
You will undertake complex transport, parking and traffic studies resulting in the preparation of area, route and link strategies, project proposals, option analysis and business cases. You will be responsible for developing and delivering projects for traffic management and road safety program including Local Area Transport Management plans, Pedestrian Access Mobility Plans, Street parking management, Cycling Strategy and Action Plan; Walking Strategy and Action Plan and Integrated Transport Strategy (ITS 2036) priorities.
Requirements
- Tertiary degree qualifications in traffic engineering or equivalent and demonstrated significant experience in the design and delivery of active transport and traffic management projects
- Demonstrated experience in transport and traffic engineering
- Ability to lead the development, design, and implementation of active transport infrastructure projects, including cycleways, footpaths, pedestrian crossings, and traffic calming measures.
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary transport design and creating a safe, connected and accessible transport system within a multi-modal urban transport system
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure programs and transport project management with a track record in delivering projects whilst meeting key program budgets and project deadlines in an environment of balancing complex issues and competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams and communicate effectively with the community, stakeholders, staff, industry and other government organisations
- Demonstrated a strong customer centric approach - be responsive; sensitive to customer needs ℰ; communicate early, often, and clearly; accountable for investigations, planning, concept development, and stakeholder engagement; implementation and administration of traffic and parking solutions to deliver sustainable transportation outcomes
- Developed analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive changes and implement innovations
- A high level of verbal and written communication skills in the preparation of reports, plans and projects and responding to community issues
- Class C NSW Drivers Licence.
