About the Role 

An industry-leading client is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to manage procurement transactions and support our internal stakeholders in acquiring goods and services efficiently. This is a minimum 12-month contract that requires someone with a strong background/understanding in procurement/purchasing, excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct and indirect procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely and accurate processing of purchase orders.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and gather necessary documentation (e.g., drawings, specifications, statements of work).
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate basic terms, and ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
  • Address procurement cycle issues, including invoicing discrepancies and supplier performance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Collect and organise data to support procurement analysis and management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About You 

Essential:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in transactions and documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and build strong relationships.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Australian Citizenship (required for Australian Defence Security Clearance eligibility).
Desirable:
  • Understanding of Government or regulated industry policies and practices.
  • Professional supply chain accreditation (CIPS, ISM, ASCM, etc.).
  • Experience in successful supplier negotiations.
