About the Role
An industry-leading client is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist
to manage procurement transactions and support our internal stakeholders in acquiring goods and services efficiently. This is a minimum 12-month contract that requires someone with a strong background/understanding in procurement/purchasing, excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct direct and indirect procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely and accurate processing of purchase orders.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and gather necessary documentation (e.g., drawings, specifications, statements of work).
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate basic terms, and ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Address procurement cycle issues, including invoicing discrepancies and supplier performance concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier communications.
- Collect and organise data to support procurement analysis and management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing best practices.
- Perform other duties as required.
About You
Essential:
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in transactions and documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and build strong relationships.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Australian Citizenship (required for Australian Defence Security Clearance eligibility).
Desirable:
- Understanding of Government or regulated industry policies and practices.
- Professional supply chain accreditation (CIPS, ISM, ASCM, etc.).
- Experience in successful supplier negotiations.
