About Us:

On behalf of our client based in Townsville, we are currently seeking for a Principal Project Manager for a 3-year assignment to look after a transformation project, involving replacing the clients Resource Planning systems with a progressive and modern solution which will enable the client to provide a more customer centric delivery model, with reduced manual processes and greater flexibility for employees, enabling them to complete their tasks anytime, anywhere, using appropriate devices including mobile technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a project management specialist, monitor and track the delivery of multiple work packages across the project life cycle and provide advice and support to the immediate team to ensure delivery deadlines are met.
  • Ensure quality customer outcomes / strong relationships with strategic partners using effective customer service principles, educating customers, understanding the business, and by promoting a customer centric mentality across council.
  • Work with the Project Leadership Team, Implementation partner and Solution Vendors to develop project plans that achieve the goals and objectives of the project and align with the client’s overall business strategy.
  • Manage key Project Governance artifacts including Project Schedules, Task Lists and RAID Log.
  • Lead and participate in governance meetings
  • Identify key risks associated with projects and develop and communicate potential mitigation measures to avoid or minimise these risks.
  • Collect project data to monitor and measure progress compared to the plan and escalate identified risks and issues to allow for the adjustment and reallocation of resources to resolve them.
  • Provide thought leadership with regards to the management and delivery of the project.
  • Work with the Change Manager as required to ensure effective identification, communication and management of change impacts.
  • Lead meetings and set expectations of the project work streams and assist in resolving problems and issues.
  • Work on multiple work streams and project phases simultaneously.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the IT industry / emerging technologies, project management, and relevant legislation, policies, procedures and opportunities through analysis, research, and industry expertise.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience in or up to a subject matter expert and specialist in Project Management and the ability to apply this to an environment with complex and changing requirements.
  • Experience in transformational ERP solution implementation (ideally including Oracle implementations).
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, team management, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in project schedule development and management, including critical path analysis, monitoring and control, on complex large-scale ICT projects, preferably using Microsoft Project Online.
  • Highly developed skills in managing workload and prioritisation of work.
  • High level of managerial skills, including human resource management, information and knowledge management, service level management, quality management and financial management.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Ability to apply creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in project management, ideally in larger projects in large and complex environments across the planning and delivery lifecycle.
  • An expert in Project / Program Management concepts and iterative development across a diverse enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency up to high level of skills and experience in delivering small up to multiple, complex projects simultaneously within a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience role modelling a positive safety culture and adherence to the Health Safety Management Systems through visible leadership
