We are seeking a skilled and experienced  Category Specialist  to join our clients’ team on a short-term, part time basis (3 days per week) until the end of May 2025. If you have a passion for strategic sourcing and category management and thrive in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you.

About the Role


This role involves leading sourcing and category management activities to deliver commercially advantageous outcomes. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, develop strategies, and ensure optimal supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis to develop commercially advantageous sourcing strategies
  • Collaborate with Contract Owners and stakeholders to align strategies with organisational goals
  • Maintain an understanding of technical requirements and business process value chains
  • Provide coaching and mentoring on category management processes
  • Develop and lead negotiation strategies in consultation with legal teams
  • Act as the company’s representative for all formal contract communications, including variations, amendments, and disputes
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing and category management
  • Substantial experience in sourcing, category management, market research, and high-value negotiations
  • Proven ability to prepare sourcing strategies, procurement plans, recommendation for awards, and board papers
  • Expertise in post-award contract and supplier performance management for complex arrangements
  • Considerable experience in large, multi-disciplined or geographically dispersed organisations in industries such as engineering, mining, infrastructure asset management, or utilities
  • Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • CIPS qualification (completed or in progress) is advantageous
  • Experience or knowledge in WA Public Sector Procurement is desirable
