Are you an experienced Commissioning Engineer looking for an opportunity to lead high-impact electrical projects? This role offers the chance to work on large-scale transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects while providing specialist engineering expertise in testing and commissioning.
About the Role:
This position is responsible for leading commissioning activities on major electrical projects, ensuring the successful testing and integration of primary and secondary equipment. You will provide expert technical support to project teams, assist with tender submissions, and play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment (AC and DC) from 415V to 500kV, including transformers, switchgear, CBs, CTs, and VTs.
- Conduct secondary injection relay testing in transmission, distribution, generation, and traction environments.
- Test and integrate AC and DC control systems, protection relays, SCADA, and communication systems.
- Develop and implement commissioning methodologies, relay test plans, ITPs, and commissioning plans.
- Provide high-level specialist engineering support and technical expertise for commissioning activities.
- Manage and lead commissioning teams, ensuring compliance with safety and risk management processes.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, design engineers, and construction teams to optimise project outcomes.
Selection Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in testing and commissioning primary and secondary protection and control equipment.
- Proficiency in industry-standard testing equipment and software, including Omicron, Doble, and SCADA systems.
- Proven ability to develop and lead commissioning activities within an electrical utility or infrastructure environment.
- Experience managing risk, project timelines, and stakeholder expectations in complex engineering projects.
- Willingness to travel
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including transmission, substations, protection & control fundamentals.
- Extensive experience in power systems protection, commissioning principles, and risk management.
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 testing principles is advantageous.
