Category and Contract Specialist
 
Are you an experienced and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in procurement, contract management, and supplier negotiations?  We are currently working with a leading mining and resources company who is looking to engage an experienced and highly organised Category and Contract Specialist to join their dynamic team for an initial 6 months with the potential for a permanent position, Perth based. 
 
Start Date: ASAP
Roster: 5/2 Roster – Monday to Friday.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the purchasing, supply, and distribution of goods and services required by the organisation.
  • Negotiate supplier terms and conditions, ensuring favourable agreements and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Assist in the procurement process, including drafting contracts, evaluating proposals, and conducting negotiations.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of contracts from creation through to execution, renewal, and eventual termination.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, regulations, and company policies throughout the procurement and contracting process.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and suppliers to maintain positive relationships and achieve optimal contract performance.
 
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
  • Proven experience in category management, procurement, and contract negotiation, preferably in a mining or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of legal frameworks, regulatory compliance, and contract law.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related field (preferred).
  • CIPS qualification (completed or in progress) is advantageous.
