About the Client:

Government agency tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Our client is currently seeking for an experienced Actuary Officer to join their busy team for a casual 3-months temporary assignment.


About the role

As an Actuary Officer, you will utilise statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to undertake analytical work on a range of tasks, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects and cost benefit analyses. In addition, your key duties are as follows:

  • Extract, cleanse, and prepare data from multiple sources, in particular the data warehouse, and advise on appropriate data checks for reasonableness. 
  • Update and develop regular performance monitoring. 
  • Support the Actuary Division to fulfill statutory requirements including the provision of data and analysis for reporting to the Board, Minister and for the purpose of public data sharing. 
  • Undertake ad hoc modelling requests and report production. 
  • Effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) the progress of work responsibilities and outcomes of work undertaken.  
 

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience in Actuary or similar role
  • Possess relevant academic qualifications such as tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Studies or Mathematics/Statistics, progressing towards Associate and/or Fellowship qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage various internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to handle tasks with competing deadlines and priorities.
