About the role
We are seeking a skilled Linux Red Hat Engineer
to provide operating system support, administration, and maintenance for Red Hat Linux environments. The role requires both business-hours and after-hours support, with a focus on system health checks, user account management, and basic administration. The engineer will support an application environment running on Red Hat Linux 6.1 and 7.1, ensuring system stability and performance.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide operating system support
for Red Hat Linux environments, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Perform basic system administration tasks, including health checks and user account management.
- Support the Murex application, which operates on Red Hat Linux 6.1 and 7.1(EOL and near EOL).
- Take after-hours support calls
and provide incident response as required.
- Work within the current support agreement, where patching and remediation are out of scope.
- Maintain and monitor virtualized application environments, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to provide reliable Linux OS support.
- Document processes, issues, and resolutions to maintain knowledge sharing within the team.
Experience:
- Proven experience
in Red Hat Linux system administration and support.
- Familiarity with Red Hat Linux 6.1 and 7.1, including troubleshooting and basic system management.
- Experience in user account management, system health monitoring, and administrative tasks.
- Understanding of virtualized environments
and basic knowledge of clustered Oracle databases(not in scope but beneficial).
- Willingness to take after-hours support calls
and provide necessary assistance.
- Strong problem-solving skills
and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills
to collaborate with internal teams and vendors.
