A Queensland State Government department is seeking an experienced and capable Principal HR Consultant – Employment Relations (AO7) to join their People and Culture team. This temporary opportunity offers the chance to lead complex employment relations matters, influence HR strategy, and contribute to a high-performing, values-driven organisation.

About the Role
As the Principal HR Consultant – Employment Relations, you will:

  • Provide expert advice and case management on workplace matters including performance, conduct, grievances, and organisational change.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in employment relations, supporting leaders across the organisation.
  • Lead and contribute to HR projects, strategies and initiatives aligned with the department’s strategic workforce plan.
  • Develop and present high-quality written briefings and documentation on complex HR matters.
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Coach and support the development of the broader HR partnering team.

About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
  • Public Sector experience is preferred
  • Extensive experience in employment relations and workplace case management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, confident advice on complex workplace issues.
  • Proven relationship-building and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to HR projects and strategic initiatives.
