About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant
to join our finance team on a 12-month non ongoing contract. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the accounts payable function and supporting general accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage supplier invoices and ensure timely, accurate payments
- Oversee three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receipts
- Code invoices accurately, including GST and cost allocations
- Handle weekly and ad-hoc payment runs
- Reconcile general ledger accounts (accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations)
- Prepare monthly journals (prepayments, expense recognition, deferred revenue, etc.)
- Raise ad-hoc customer invoices
- Respond to vendor queries and manage the accounts payable inbox
- Support or lead finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting (preferred)
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant role with a focus on accounts payable
- Experience using accounting systems (Workday is an advantage)
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required
- Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to support the team
