Job Title:  Aircraft Fitter

Our client is a leading innovator in the aerospace or defence industry, renowned for their commitment to quality, safety, and technological advancement. They are currently seeking meticulous and skilled Aircraft Fitters to join their talented team and contribute to the assembly of high-precision aircraft systems.
Job Description:
As an Aircraft Assembly Operator, you will be instrumental in assembling and testing aircraft components and systems. Your role will involve working with advanced tools and technologies to ensure that every assembly meets our rigorous quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in aerospace manufacturing and a passion for precision.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading and following work instructions/engineering plans, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings being  highly advantageous
  • Jig Assembly utilising liquid shimming during pre-structure build
  • Drilling & reaming of structural holes, deburring and countersinking
  • Using pneumatic drills in confined areas(structure drilling)
  • Using measuring equipment, vernier calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, feeler gauges, surface thickness gauges and depth gauges
  • Bonding composite parts of metallic surfaces, assembly and bonding of anchor nuts
  • Final structure assembly incorporating the application of sealants
  • Using pneumatic nut fasteners, fastener grip length gauges and hand held electric fastener torque runners
  • Ancillary task and assembly processes controlled by work instructions.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in aircraft assembly or a similar role within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems, components, and assembly procedures.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with aerospace safety standards and practices.
  • A “trades” background would be highly advantageous
